Welcome to the Scene Serene newsletter

Welcome to Scene Serene by me, Natelegé Whaley. In this blog/newsletter, I’ll be highlighting Black women's cosmic influence in music and culture. I’ll be sprinkling in my personal perspective as well. Scene Serene was my Tumblr name from back in the day so I revived it for my new blog era. It’s also now my DJ alias.

As a newbie DJ, I’ll also be sharing some mixes and liner notes, too!

Some background on me: I’m a former Bandcamp columnist and staff reporter for MIC.com and BET.com. My work covers Black womanhood, music and reproductive justice. I have bylines in NBCNews, Pitchfork, Teen Vogue, Huff Post, and more media outlets. I now work as a copywriter in content marketing and occasionally do scriptwriting for short video formats.

As for journalism and blogging, I’m writing what I want when I want. Excited to welcome you to my new blog as I’m coming out of a low-key season. Let the journey begin.
