Happy Friday and Cowboy Carter day! How are y’all? I’ve been under the weather this past week — luckily nothing serious and I’m feeling better — but I had to push my next editorial back. I’m reminding myself I am not a machine so I’m prioritizing rest and will be back with something fresh in April.

In the meantime, this month marks a year since my first DJ gig and I hit another milestone last Friday by making my livestream debut on Mixsho.com. Mixsho is a DJ community I’m part of and I had the opportunity to play a 1-hour set that’s R&B leaning. Overall, I explore an array of sounds including hip-hop, Afrobeats and amapiano and house.

You’re Invited to My DJ Set, April 5

One more plug! Next Friday, April 5, I’m making my debut at The Se7en Lounge in Brooklyn. It’s a new Black-owned social bar that’s curating memorable feel-good gatherings.

My friend and fellow DJ and music lover, DANIBKNOWING, is launching her R&B party experience WAV(@WeAllVibing_) there. I’m spinning the opening set (8PM-10PM). You’ll get some mellow mid-tempo bops from me to warm y’all up for Dani, who will bring the peak energy for the night. The event will close with slow jams and vibes from the talented Simbazilla.

WAV is 100% R&B and ALL the eras, hits, deep cuts, and mashups. Right now I’m working on a crate that has a nice balance of R&B from the 70s to 2020s. So if you REALLY love the genre, this is the event for you. It’s also FREE.
